Insperation, Persperation, Headache.

In an effort to keep to my 100 words daily target, I spent all day yesterday trying to think up something to write about and found that staring at a blank screen really isn’t conducive to creativity. Then, having been afflicted with a massive headache I went to bed, where I lay awake, my head buzzing with ideas. It’s always the way.

I may well ramble on some for more than 100 words. So I’m moving the goalpost so that it’s now a MINIMUM requirement rather than a target. I’m just surprised that I’ve managed to keep going this long.

Picture This..

I am probably a little giddier than is decent for a man of my age, on hearing that some of my [so many] photographs of Thea Gilmore are to be part of the artwork for the forthcoming live album. I’ll actually be a proper published photographer! Ok, that’s exaggerating but it still makes me happy, as it’s the closest I’ll get to the “rock n roll lifestyle.”

As an added bonus Mrs Stonier is using one of my photos as her profile pic on FaceBook, after having actually asked me if it was alright …as if I would say no?

Death, Literally.

What does it say about me that my pile of “books to be read”, of which there are 30, [I buy them quicker than I read] ALL* of them are, in one way or another, mainly about death?

Lots. Of. Death.

Even “The Life of Pi” starts off with a boat sinking and all but a little boy surviving. It leaves me with the problem that if I’m not in the “death” mood, I’m really buggered for choice.

*All, that is, with exception of David Peace’s The Damned United, which is about Brian Clough and not about death. I think.

TV Review - The Comedy Decline and Fall of Reginald Perrin

I didn’t get where I am today by remaking 70’s sitcoms. Then again I’m not a BBC commissioning editor. I know all the reasons why they did it - the “brand recognition” and the “built in audience” which have been the excuses for remakes since the first time they re-did one.

The thing about the original was a] it wasn’t the comedy classic some people remember and b] that it worked at all, was because it was so of it’s pre Thatcher time that it doesn’t really cope with the shift into modernity.

And the new one isn’t all that funny.

Just A Walkin' The Dawg

Dear Sainted Mother[tm] and I are taking advantage of the current warm spell to extend the dog walking a little further than usual. I’m very lucky living where I do, that within a 5 minute walk I can be in the middle of rural Cheshire countryside. It also helps that the area around both the Mersey and the Ship Canal are well maintained for walkers. The only problem I find [apart from the lack of seating] is, that due to geography it’s not easy to make a round trip and you are forced to walk back the way you came.

TV Review

So we’re 4 episode in of the cheerily cheesy horror/whodunnit and so far six people have been killed…

Now I’ve seen plenty [maybe too many] of these serial killer type shows and I always thought that half of the fun/point of being the psycho was having the bodies discovered, so folk knew you were there. However this big bad is keeping it on the down low as the only body discovered has been staged as a suicide.

On the plus side the title sequence seems to imply that things are going to hot up. Hope so, cos I’m bored already.

One Hundred Words A Day...

...not including the title of course. So the thing is, I’ve got this blog and it’s become apparent that the interval between proper entries is getting wider [not including the picture posts]. I’d read about this 100 Word Project where people wrote essays of no more than err... 100 words. Now, I don’t intend to write fiction or poetry, but I’m going to try and write a 100 word entry every day, and see where that gets us, even if it’s only a weather report or a “what I did on my holidays” entry. I mean it’s only 100 words.

Rosalie Deighton

From the same gig in October 2001 as mentioned in the previous post this is the first time I saw Rosalie Deighton live. She was at one point the "artiste most seen"

Our Beloved Leader

Has it been over SEVEN years already? Damn! it's very nearly eight in fact.

So, from the very first Nerina Pallot gig on Sunday 14 October 2001 @ the Hop & Grape Manchester. Thing is, if the events of 11th September hadn't happened this would have been an Aimee Mann gig...wich is weird.

Rosalie Deighton was on the same bill - still keeping tabs on that one too.

What A Difference A Day Makes

...or how to make it big by being on US televison.

I've been catching up on posting my vids to YouTube, specially now that they've up'd the max file size and I have a connection which lets me do so in a reasonable time. [Though I will admit this process seems to have stalled, but that's another issue.]

So last month I finally upload this video of Carina Round singing an as yet unreleased tracked called For Everything A Reason.

Up to last Friday it had about recieved about 40 views. Then a 30 second clip of the song was used in the latest ep of Dollhouse [still a bit pants and not sure why I'm continuing to watch] and in the space of 24 hours the hit count goes rocketing to over 500. It stands, at the time of writing at 774 hits, making it my most watched vid on t'Tube. Amazing. I didn't realise that many people watched Dollhouse!
